Description
Squad 44 is a multiplayer tactical first‑person shooter set in World War II, developed by Offworld Industries (with support from Mercury Arts). Initially released in 2018 as Post Scriptum, it was officially rebranded to Squad 44 in December 2023 The game recreates large‑scale historical battles—such as Normandy, Arnhem, Iwo Jima, Market Garden, and the Battle of the Bulge—across over 20 meticulously detailed maps. Featuring up to 50 vs. 50 combined‑arms warfare, players coordinate infantry, armor, logistics, and command roles, with an arsenal of over 150 authentic weapons and 120+ historically accurate vehicles

Carentan was a town in the Manche department of northern France, around 24 kilometers north of Saint-Lô, the departmental capital. On 12 June 1940, Major General Maxwell D. Taylor's 101st Airborne Division assaulted Carentan and seized the town from a rearguard of the German 2. Fallschirmjäger-Division, the bulk of which had quietly withdrawn the previous night. A German counterattack supported by assault guns from the 17. SS-Panzergrenadier-Division "Götz von Berlichingen" early the next morning nearly routed the American paratroopers, who were ultimately reinforced by M4A3 Shermans of the 2nd Armored Division fresh from Omaha Beach.
